The Gold medallist — best known for her glittering athletics career — was at the Mary Peters Track in Belfast yesterday to have her hands and feet cast as part of a National Lottery campaign (above).
The Summer Olympic gold medallist, Dame Mary said she was privileged to be involved in a campaign which recognises the sporting achievements of the UK’s Olympic and Paralympic gold medallists.
She said: “It’s an honour to be part of this wonderful campaign, especially in the run up to the London Olympics. It’s such an exciting time.”
The casting marked the start of Dame Mary’s 70th birthday celebrations and already, plans are in action for the big day on July 6.
